Bio (Adrianne Lickers)
Doctor of Social Sciences
Adrianne is the coordinator of the Our Sustenance Program on the Six Nations of the Grand River Territory in Ontario. She received her Master of Arts in Intercultural and International Communications from Royal Roads in 2014 where her thesis focused on food security and community-based programs at Six Nations. She has been with the Our Sustenance Program since it began in 2011 as the first and only vendor at a farmer's market. Since then, in an effort to increase food security and make positive impacts, the program has grown to include the market, a community garden, a greenhouse and a good food box program. These things all work together to provide access and education about food and healthy living. Adrianne strives to make positive impacts in her community and her hope is that with the Doctor of Social Sciences degree she can continue and grow beyond the boundaries of her one community to inspire change to many.
