Bio (Maria Anderson)
Doctor of Social Sciences
Maria has had an interesting career over the past 30 years starting as a programmer and progressing through various roles such as technical architect, systems analyst, instructor and database administrator. Maria has been in formal leadership roles for the past ten years, and just recently started a consulting practice.
Maria received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Calgary in 1986. Obtaining a graduate degree in the social sciences was not an option at that time, so Maria discovered an aptitude and enjoyment for information technology. In 2013, Maria decided to pursue a Master of Arts in Leadership at Royal Roads University and this sparked a passion to continue learning about leadership. Maria's research examined how to foster collaboration and teamwork, as well as organizational culture, in a small information technology company. A doctoral degree has been a distant dream for years, so Maria is excited to be pursuing a Doctor of Social Sciences degree to research how IT organizations can thrive and evolve in order to foster innovation and productivity.
Maria lives in Calgary, Alberta with her supportive husband, Allan, whom she met in high school over 30 years ago.
