Bio (Nikki Bade)

Nikki Bade is a practitioner-scholar who is passionate about supporting organizations to develop and leverage their most valuable resource, their people. Professionally, Nikki is a human resources professional and has worked in multiple sectors and locations. She is a manager at HR Solutions, working with Canadian Tire Corporation. Previously, Nikki worked for four years with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary as the human resources manager. During that time, Nikki completed her master’s degree and worked with a multi-agency HR team to support human resources functions for non-profits across Calgary. Nikki also worked internationally during her tenure in the drilling industry, managing human resources functions in Central and South America. Academically, Nikki completed her master’s degree in leadership at Royal Roads University. Her thesis focused on leveraging employee engagement to foster retention in non-profit organizations. Of particular interest is Nikki’s use of PhotoVoice, an arts-based research methodology in her thesis data collection. Since then, she has presented on arts-based research at three conferences and is scheduled to present as part of an arts-based research panel in the fall at the International Leadership Association conference. She is passionate about arts-based quantitative research and intends to use it in her doctoral work.
